At a recent Prime Minister’s Questions, I asked Rishi Sunak MP about the 200 unaccompanied asylum-seeking children who are missing from Home Office-run hotels. It is tragic and appalling that they are at risk, and in light of the disappearances I asked the Prime Minister if he thought the UK was still a safe haven for vulnerable children. You can watch my contribution, and the Prime Minister’s subsequent inadequate reply here.

It is unacceptable that Ministers have no idea where the missing children are, and that the police do not have the resources or powers to investigate and tackle the issue. You can read more in a piece I wrote for the Stylist here.

I will continue to speak up for those who cannot do so themselves — the UK has a proud history of taking in vulnerable and unaccompanied children, as does our constituency of Hampstead and Kilburn, and I will continue to advocate for policies and funding that means it can be once again.
