Twitter stream - 1 April

Twitter, 1 April

I work very hard to be accessible to local residents and I know different people feel comfortable getting in touch through different ways.

For instance, many people like to come along to a set time to one of my surgeries to raise issues with me. Email is, of course, very common. Sometimes the elderly or vulnerable ask me to visit them at home.

On 1 April, I was pleased to see someone using twitter to get in touch. One resident was concerned about rubbish on Messina Avenue and Kilburn High Road – so he sent me a tweet! I was able to copy in the relevant local councillor and ask him to send a photo through so we can take action. The nice thing about twitter, in principle, is that other local residents might see the issue being raised and chime in with more information or useful evidence.

From my side, it doesn’t make much difference how people get in touch – so long as it works for them, it works for me.
