Dr Hamilton

It was my pleasure last week to meet with Dr. Antonia Hamilton, a social cognition and autism expert from Hampstead and Kilburn, to talk about how scientific evidence can be used by policy makers.

Antonia came to parliament as part of a scheme run by the Royal Society to learn more about how policy is formed and in turn, how her research can be used by policymakers.

In Parliament often called on to make decisions on complex topics, particularly around healthcare, and meeting individuals like Antonia helps me to access the necessary advice to vote and contribute to debate in an informed way.

Meeting expert scientists from my constituency and all over the UK is a great reminder that the UK is a world leader in science. We should use the expertise of our brightest scientists to provide evidence for policy making.
