Question to the Chancellor – Financial impact on the disabled

Today at Treasury Questions I raised the desperate state of social care services in our community. Research from Scope has shown that disabled people make up a third of social care users, but Government cuts are making it more and more difficult for them to lead independent lives.

In just a single year, demand for homecare services has soared by 10% in Brent and I know that the situation is just as challenging in Camden. Years of Government cuts have made it impossible for our local Councils to meet this demand, so today I asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer to commit additional funds to meet the crisis in our social care sector.
