Prime Minister’s Questions – #FreeNazanin

November 23, 2016 at 1:04 pm / by

Today at Prime Minister’s Questions, I asked Theresa May to explain what her Government is doing to help bring Nazanin Zaghari Ratcliffe home from Iran, where she is being arbitrarily detained.

In April Nazanin was arrested by the Iranian Authorities upon arriving in Tehran for a routine trip to visit her parents. Her three year old daughter Gabriella has also had her passport confiscated, meaning she is unable to return home to her father.

The Government’s response has been slow, indecisive and a betrayal to Nazanin’s family and all those who believe our Government should do their utmost to protect our citizens abroad.

The Prime Minister’s predictable response to my question reflected the general attitude we have seen from the Government since Nazanin was detained. I fully support the efforts of her husband Richard, who is leading the campaign, and I will do my utmost to keep up the pressure until she is home.
