Moped crime in Hampstead and Kilburn

I have been extremely concerned about the increase in moped-related crimes. From phone robberies to acid attacks, these incidents have been intolerable and have been particularly prevalent in Camden. Residents have expressed fears that the police’s response is being hampered by operational constraints. As such, I have been seeking clarity on residents’ behalf.

My office was represented at a meeting with Sophie Linden, Deputy Mayor for Police and Crime, and a number of residents’ groups, such as the Heath and Hampstead Society. The discussion focused on the necessary steps to deal with the increase in street muggings, on whether there are plans to increase the police presence in our area, and to ascertain what is being done to improve response times on 101 calls.

I will continue to work closely with MOPAC and others to provide residents with the reassurance that they deserve.
