Grenfell Tower and local fire safety

The Grenfell disaster continues to pose new questions for the Government and our local authorities. For survivors, the priority is to obtain justice and definitive answers for the trauma they have endured. For residents in tower blocks across the country, clarity is required over the protections in place to prevent such a tragedy from occurring again.

Fire safety

I highlighted the cost of the Chalcots Evacuation to Communities Secretary Sajid Javid, and raised the need to support Councils who are forced into such drastic action. My question can be viewed below. This follows our previous exchange in which I demanded he look again at the closure of Belsize Fire Station.

Locally, I have been in frequent contact with the Council on behalf of Chalcots residents to ensure that any problems they face are being addressed as quickly as possible by Council staff. Most recently, Council Leader Georgia Gould publicly responded to my questions in a public letter which can be viewed here.
