Front Page of Ham&High

I walked into my local newsagent today and the man who has been topping up my Oyster card for nearly two years greeted me with a huge smile.

I was so shocked I almost dropped my ipod.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure he’s a nice man, but in my mind he is ‘the man who grunts at me every Monday and begrudgingly hands over my change’. Not anymore apparently!

Grumpy Man: You were on the front page of our local newspaper!
Me (sleepily): I was? Oh..ummm…..yes…I was writing about the Obama campaign…
Grumpy Man: We were really excited in the shop. We wanted to put it in the window and tell everyone that you’re our customer!
Tulip: You did? Oh…I see…Of course you could have if you want…
Grumpy Man: Next time we definitely will!

I’m glad to say that I could bring a tiny bit of Obamamania to Camden! But what does he mean by “Next time”?! Ok so I didn’t have my hairdryer with me in the USA, but still….

  1. He means “next time”, obviously. I’ve already put in a requisition for you to be on my team come 2012…

  2. a wise apple says:

send some of those papers my way!!!
