Finsbury Park terrorist attack

I was appalled by this morning’s terror attack on Seven Sisters Road, near Finsbury Park Mosque. An attack on innocent worshippers is an attack on all Londoners and our shared values of acceptance and community. My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and all congregants affected by this cynical and barbaric act.

As the Mayor of London has said, this has been an extremely difficult couple of months for London and the country at large. Our stoicism and strength remains undiminished and these events should only serve to increase efforts to bind our diverse communities together.

Extra police have been deployed to reassure communities, especially those observing Ramadan. Community Wardens are out in the community around Mosques and CCTVs are being proactively monitored across the borough. To report anything suspicious to the police, please call 0800 789 321 or 999 in the event of immediate danger.

I have personally written to community leaders across Hampstead and Kilburn to offer my support and reassurance following the attack. Residents who have been affected, or those who simply have wider concerns that they wish to share, please contact my office at – I will be happy to offer any appropriate support.
