Discussing special needs with Tristram Hunt

Although education policy has a high profile overall, the focus on GCSE grades, school places, Ofsted, and the Government’s many (too many!) top-down reforms can make it hard for special needs to get the attention it deserves. That’s why I was so keen to get Labour’s shadow minister for education, Tristram Hunt, to have a look round Swiss Cottage Special School on 7 January, which supports many severely disabled children. Kay Bedford, the Principal, is rightfully proud of this excellent school. The school also serves as a teacher training and research facility for special needs teaching UK-wide.
