Debate – Both parents’ names on passports

December 1, 2017 at 5:35 pm / by

Today in Parliament, I led a debate on the campaign to include both parents’ names in children’s passports. I highlighted just a few examples of the hundreds of thousands of parents who have been stopped at the border in the past five years to prove they are related to their child.

I stressed the importance of measures to prevent child trafficking, whilst arguing that a simple change to child passports will safeguard such measures but also result in fewer innocent parents being questioned by border officials.
