Community Champion Mary Arnold in Parliament

I was honoured to make a speech at Mary Arnold’s leaving party. Mary has worked tirelessly for the community in Brent for over twenty years now and there was a fitting tribute to her in the House of Commons hosted by Glenda Jackson MP on 2nd February. People from residents’ associations, voluntary organisations, religious groups, political parties and, of course, Mary’s friends and family were present.

I praised Mary’s work as a local councillor and her contribution to Brent as lead member for Children and Families. Several local residents mentioned her impressive work with the South Kilburn community.

I was also pleased that people at the party were very enthusiastic about the newly formed Kilburn Neighbourhood Forum which broadly covers the Kilburn wards in both Brent and Camden. The Forum will focus on working together to improve the Kilburn High Road and the surrounding areas. If you would like further information about this, please go to
