Canvassing in Regent’s Park

I spent the weekend campaigning in Munster Square in Regent’s Park ward.

The main issue at the moment is that the Lib Dem/Tory council is auctioning hundreds of council homes to private developers. They are going ahead with this despite the fact that Camden currently has 18, 000 people on its housing waiting list.

The Council should really be looking to expand the number of homes available to our Camden residents. They definitely shouldn’t be selling them off!

I spoke to a number of residents who shared my sentiments and showed their concern by signing a petition which demands that Camden Council stop the sell off and market renting of our council homes.

Council leaders must join with tenants to demand that Government and the Mayor of London invest directly in existing and new council homes with secure tenancies, lower rents and responsible landlords.
